Once upon a time, I was an illustrator who started taking pictures to gather reference materials for my drawings, but soon I discovered that digital photography was a challenging yet instantly gratifying art form in itself.
I am particularly drawn to portrait photography because human subjects receive the most emotional response from viewers. People are highly critical of images of themselves and others, and I enjoy the discussion that results.
Although I admire the photojournalistic style of many photographers, to me, the most compelling aspect of portrait photography is creating an image of something that would not otherwise exist.
I am currently based in the San Francisco Bay Area, but I have travelled to all seven continents in search of exciting photo opportunities.
